What is the English Language Academic Excellence Scholarship?

The English Language Academic Excellence Scholarship is a named scholarship, providing £2,500 tuition fee reduction per academic year (£1,250 maximum per Fall and Spring semesters each). Eligible International undergraduate students will benefit from a reduction in tuition fees for per year they are enrolled as a student in good standing at Richmond.

Who is eligible to apply for the English Language Academic Excellence Award Scholarship?

Eligibility

First time, undergraduate enrolled students who are International fee.

Students can only receive one of the following:

  • Liberal Arts Academic Excellence Award or,
  • English Language Academic Excellence Award

Students must have achieved 6.0 IELTS with 6.0 in all elements for non-native speakers and meet all entry criteria for the programme.

How do I apply for the English Language Academic Excellence Award Scholarship?

Students will be automatically considered for the tuition reduction if they meet the criteria above – no separate application is needed.

Terms and Conditions

All scholarships at Richmond American University London are awarded with terms and conditions for receiving a scholarship or award. When you accept your scholarship offer, you agree to these terms and conditions as well as your student contract – all are sent to you at the time of your offer of a place on one of our degree programmes.

To be eligible to receive this scholarship, you must meet the entry requirements to the programme and apply with grades ABB, 3.5GPA or higher, or equivalent. The assessment will be made based on an unweighted GPA, so your AP, advanced classes or Honours grades will not count.

Are there any circumstances that might affect this scholarship?

Currently the English Language Academic Excellence Award is based upon current fees. The university also reserves the right to adjust the value, volume and criteria of its scholarships should fees change.

The University will still endeavour to provide scholarships that provide students value for money and help students reduce student fee debt.

Can I receive other funding along with this scholarship?

You may be eligible to receive this award along with loans from Student Finance England (SFE) or other personal funding options. The final calculation excludes SFE interest and is based on 48 months & 36 months comparison, it is acknowledged that universities will vary with start and completion times.

However, students can only receive one of the Liberal Arts Academic Excellence Award OR the English Language Academic Excellence Award.

When you accept your scholarship offer, you agree to these terms and conditions as well as your student contract – both are sent to you at the time of your offer of a place on one of our degree programmes.

To main this scholarship, you are expected to:

  • Achieve and maintain a GPA of 2.5 cumulative, carried over from the previous academic year,
  • remain in good standing as a student, and
  • make a positive contribution to university life.

  • Volunteering for five hours a semester on one of the following:
    • Student Ambassadors

    • Student Leadership
    • Participating or running Clubs and Societies
    • Working on Campus
    • Working in the community
    • Local volunteering
  • Take part in the Richmond Leadership Academy, and complete the Bronze Award as a minimum.
